EPA Corporate Licensing.

Companies can now voluntarily amalgamate two or more EPA licences into a single ‘corporate licence’, providing administrative savings and streamlined corporate environmental reporting.

A corporate licence retains and simplifies all compliance requirements into a single, consistent easier-to understand document. Relevant existing compliance requirements are maintained but existing reporting structures are streamlined into a single annual performance statement. The new approach also creates opportunities for companies to invest in projects that create the best environmental and economic returns, including offsetting between sites.

For more information, please see EPA Publication 1190 or this webpage on EPA’s webpage.

Goulburn Valley Water (GVW) has been issued the world’s first corporate licence. GVW is a regional water business, managing water supply and wastewater treatment in Victoria’s food bowl – the Goulburn Valley. Prior to amalgamation, GVW held 26 EPA licences, totalling 226 pages of licence requirements. Its new corporate licence is an eight page document. It is estimated that the new licensing approach will save GVW at least $50,000 a year in administration costs.
